Kate - One Year Older and Wiser Too!

HAPPY 3rd BIRTHDAY KATE!!! Kate was so excited for her birthday this year. After watching all of her brothers and sisters celebrate theirs, it was finally her turn. She asked for a horsey cake and Jon made one that matches her favorite horse. She picked out purple and pink balloons to decorate the room and we had our closest neighbor friends over for cake and ice cream!! She's older...is she wiser? I think so. Yesterday was a good example to me of her wisdom. We were at the eye doctor and she put her little pink sunglasses on me and said, "Mom, you look fabulous!" Can she get any wiser than that? Ha Ha

The Many Faces of Kate: Out of all the different faces we see each day, the one we probably see the most is the licking face. I'm not sure when this started. She has always loved lions and cats and horses. Anyway, she started licking people - people she likes. It's like giving a hug or a kiss, but instead it's a lick. Cute? Maybe... but not so much when she is still in the middle of chewing and swallowing her food. It's one thing when the licking stays in the family, but lately she's been demonstrating her acceptance of other people by offering them a surprise lick - could be on the shoulder or knee or hand - whichever part of the body is closest for her to dash over and lick them before they even know what is happening. I've been trying to let her know that some people don't really like to be licked - a hug might be better! :) So, if we're around you and you receive a little lick from Kate, please take that as a huge compliment that she really likes you.
