Summer Vacation with Jon's Family

Here's a picture of the cabin that we stayed in with Jon's family. We had a great time. It was beautiful!! But, the best part is the great family that we spent the week with. The cousins had a great time. I think they probably rode a marathon's distance in their scooters around the cabin deck. We played some late night games, relaxed in the hot tub (if you call sitting in the hot tub with 20 kids relaxing), watched a few good movies, went on some adventures, ate some good food, and enjoyed one anothers company.

We found a really cool bike park built on the side of the mountain. You had to ride/walk your bike to the top and then there was an intermediate course and an advanced course (that's still being built). The path coming down had a lot of switch backs and little jumps and bridges to go over. It was really fun. Here are a few pictures of Jared and Julie coming down.

A marshmallow war broke out on deck one afternoon. After things got a little more serious, Uncle Jared decided to bring McKay inside before he got pelted in the eye. Towards the end of the vacation, we also had adult scooter races around the perimeter of the cabin - on the deck. They were pretty intense. The race was 5 laps and yes there were a few crashes but no serious injuries. I can't remember who won - were we really keeping track? :)
Evan very seriously writing a letter to his Uncle Joe who couldn't be at the cabin with us. Becca and her cousin Abbie (in the background) had a cute idea to run a little store at the cabin. Parents were given a list of what their kids could do to earn tickets and then once a day the tickets could be used to buy things at the store. At the store they sold things like candy, hats, pencils, toothbrushes, notebooks, etc. One of the things the kids could do was write a letter to Uncle Joe. They also earned tickets by giving grandma and grandpa a kiss, playing with a cousin they might normally not play with or one who looks lonely, helping with the dishes, and giving someone a compliment. It was a lot of fun!! Thanks Abbie and Becca (and Aunt Sue).
